Class Information

All classes are intimate (aimed at being tailored to individual needs), informative and encourage a community of intelligent movers to come together to explore and question. You will learn about your body and probably be surprised along the way, discovering what it can do and the sneaky patterns and compensations it is holding on to. I encourage you to approach things with curiosity and explore outside of the studio space to develop your own practice of ‘functional’ movement in your everyday life.

Restorative

“Listening is about being present, not just about being quiet”. Krista Tippett

We rarely take time to rest and allow ourselves the freedom to stop in our everyday lives. This class incorporates functional movement patterns, yet with the focus on allowing the body to move away from the flight or fight mode, which our over stimulating environments can leave us in.

Breath work, a use of props to support the body into relaxation and the freedom to explore what the body needs; all are encouraged in this class.

Functional Movement

This class focuses on working dynamic rather than linear patterns, encouraging flowing movement.

Looking at aspects that we often take for granted (natural and functional movements) and that which we need for adaptability in many everyday situations, such as our home or working environments , carrying, walking and gardening; our minds and bodies need to be challenged and strengthened.

With a strong mechanical foundation (biomechanics), the focus is on body awareness, joint integrity, healthy alignment, whole body movement, breath and anatomy.

Restorative Rehabilitation

With a real interest in pain science; injury, rehabilitation, trauma and chronic pain, these classes are suitable for those who have suffered injury, are recovering after operations or have limited mobility.

Working with individuals within a class setting, gently helping you to strengthen your body and enable your movements to become more manageable; improving those areas of pain or weakness.

This class aims to give you the confidence to move well, with a greater understanding of your individual needs, promoting movement longevity.

Scoliosis

I have a particular passion for working with those who have scoliosis. I completed a specialism in America, during 2017, with a leading practitioner in this area, in order to further my knowledge.

I hold separate classes for adult and teenagers, which is particularly beneficial as this develops a community and supportive feel for each peer group (and their families).

Whether in the management stage or pre or post operatively, these classes are suitable for all.

The classes help to look at movement patterns that can often be challenging and work towards strengthening muscular imbalances, which can often lead to chronic pain.

All students are encouraged to identify what they want to achieve, what they are capable of in the short and long term. Whether through sports or an academic setting (such as times of revision and more sedentary positions), movement is incredibly important.

Like What you see? Why not arrange to come to a class?
